This wheeled canterbury or magazine rack was made by Columbia Manufacturing Co. The company was in business from the late 1800s until the 1980s in Louisville, KY. It was originally the Columbia Mantel Co. and was the city’s longest-surviving furniture factory. It includes a label from the Mahogany Association (#144) which guarantees that all exposed parts are genuine mahogany.
The piece would make a lovely addition to your living or bedroom. It could also grace a small entryway and make quite a stunning statement!
I am not the original owner, it was acquired from an estate sale in Rye, New York in Westchester County. It is in an unaltered vintage condition with some wear that is typical for a piece of furniture of its age (see photos) but overall it looks great and is quite gorgeous. It is structurally sound and sturdy.
