A hard-to-find, 20th-century Burmese lacquerware betel box with traditional Burmese patterns hand-painted on the surface. Two handpainted trays nested within, both in unused condition.

The betel box is in excellent condition, with effectively no usage wear for its age. The only cracks are age-related. It shows pride of ownership from the previous owner. This piece is part of legendary interior designer Lucia Lawrence’s private collection and it has been stored in a climate-controlled environment continuously, wrapped in shipping paper. It is clear to us that this betel box was created with a decorative purpose in mind, which is rare for the period and the region.
