A pair of late 19th century, Victorian, English circular brass stickstands with ball finials and paw feet, stamped ‘W. T&S’ William Tonks and Sons were a Birmingham company founded in 1789. They started as woodscrew makers, moving onto steel toys and finally making cast and wrought brass pieces. Their sun trademark was developed by 1869 and featured in some way on their brass pieces from the 1870s.
