An antique French military wooden box dating from the early 1900s. It was once used by a soldier as a suitcase for his personal belongings. The wooden box has been hand painted and decorated with the soldier’s rank and military symbols. The top of the hinged lid features the image of a tin helmet and the insignia for the second artillery regiment of the French army with the moto “Le Second de personne” (Second to no one). The back has been hand painted with the name of the soldier Maximin Durbesson and his rank. The case has a metal carrying handle and latch. There is a printed label with the military insignia attached to the interior of the lid.
