Basket. Circa Late 19th Century. This is a Large Scale Basket Measuring 7 inches Tall x 22 inches Long x 16 1/2 inches Wide. It is Done in a Very Unusual Oval Shape with 2 Applied Carry Handles Incorporated in to the Substantially Constructed Steam Bent Oak Top Rim. It is Completely Hand Woven – Hand Made out of Very Heavy Gauge Indigenous Brown Ash Wood and was Designed to be Durable. It has Very Good Detail in the Making – Workmanship. Based on my Experience I can Easily Surmise that it Comes From the Taconic Upstate New York Region. This Basket was Varnished Many Years Ago and Since Then has Evolved in to a Absolutely Beautiful Dark Honey Color with Naturally Aged Patina. It is in Very Nice – Strong – Sound Usable Condition – Displays Beautifully. It Would Display Wonderfully as a Centerpiece for Fruits – Vegetables – Flowers – Nuts – Etc. in a Country Kitchen Table Setting.
