A very beautiful antique round box or container
Carved and turned out of lignum vitae wood, aka Iron wood
Cylindrical shape with incised decorative bands around the ends and concentric circles on the lid, very stylish design
Smooth surface and patina
Most likely a tea canister

Measurements: Approx. 5″ tall x 6″ diameter (across)
Weighs about 2 lb. 10 oz.
Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. Opens and closes just fine. Great patina developed over time. Minor flake at the inner top rim, not visible when the box is closed. Unobtrusive 3 in hairline on the lid, running from the side towards the center, hardly noticeable, two minor surface hairlines at the side of the lid, all caused by natural shrinkage of the wood. All original.
